At-Home Sexual Health Tests
Early detection of STIs is critical to reducing the long-term health impact of these infections. That’s why we test for six common sexually transmitted diseases and two bloodborne infections:
Chlamydia is a common, treatable, sexually transmitted disease (STD) caused by the bacterium Chlamydia trachomatis. Chlamydia often has no symptoms, but it can cause serious health problems if not treated.
Gonorrhea is a common, treatable, sexually transmitted disease (STD) caused by infection with the Neisseria gonorrhoeae bacterium. N. gonorrhoeae infects the mucous membranes of the reproductive tract.
Trichomoniasis is a common, treatable, sexually transmitted disease (STD) caused by infection with Trichomonas vaginalis (a protozoan parasite). Although symptoms vary, most people who have trichomoniasis cannot tell they have it.
Syphilis is a sexually transmitted disease (STD) caused by the bacterium Treponema pallidum. Syphilis can cause serious health effects without adequate treatment.
Hepatitis B is a liver infection caused by the hepatitis B virus (HBV). Hepatitis B is spread through contact with blood from an infected person. Most people become infected with HBV by sharing needles or other equipment used to prepare and inject drugs.
Hepatitis C is a liver infection caused by the hepatitis C virus (HCV). Hepatitis C is spread through contact with blood from an infected person. Most people become infected with HCV by sharing needles or other equipment used to prepare and inject drugs.
Herpes Simplex Virus-1
Type 1 (HSV-1) mostly spreads by oral contact and causes infections in or around the mouth (oral herpes or cold sores). It can also cause genital herpes. Most adults are infected with HSV-1.
Herpes Simplex Virus-2
Genital herpes is a sexually transmitted disease (STD) caused by two types of viruses – herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) and herpes simplex virus type 2 (HSV-2). However, most cases of recurrent genital herpes are caused by HSV-2.

What STIs can be detected during testing?
At Zebra Telehealth, we test for Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, Trichomoniasis, Syphilis, Herpes Simplex Virus Type 1, Herpes Simplex Virus Type 2, Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C.
This test looks for the presence of Chlamydia trachomatis, Neisseria gonorrhea and Trichomonas vaginalis in your urine. If you engage in sexual acts that involve sites on your body other than your genitals, such as your mouth or rectum, then this single-site test may be insufficient. Moreover, there is a chance of a false negative. You should seek medical attention if there are worrying signs or symptoms even with a negative test.
